The region is not only famous for its wide variety of vegetation, from plains to hills, lakes, and mountains, but also for the diversity of local products and dishes, such as dawn truffles and agnolotti.

What to do in Piedmont

The most touristy area is the Langhe and Monferrato, where you can find very scenic horseback rid es, sunset picnics, or nice truffle hunts. Otherwise, Lake Maggiore and Lake Orta, where near Orta San Giulio one sets off for a canoe ride on the lake. For the more adventurous, in the wintertime, the resorts of Sauze d'Oulx and Prato Nevoso are teeming with snowmobiles for fresh snow excursions, which are also a great idea if you want to give a Christmas or birthday gift.
