Live a unique experience on Etna with an evocative off-road sunset tour on the north slope of the volcano.

The departure è from Piano Provenzana (1,800 m) aboard special 4x4 vehicles of the latest generation. During the excursion you are accompanied by licensed mountain or volcanological guides, who will tell you about the history and evolution of the highest volcano in Europe.

The route follows a scenic route between ancient craters and recent lava flows, with several stops at the most fascinating spots on the northern slope of’Etna.

First stop at the ruins of the Le Betulle Hotel, the only structure still visible among those destroyed by the spectacular lava flow of October 27, 2002, which completely transformed the landscape of Piano Provenzana.

The route continues with a loop trek among lava flows and volcanic materials, walking along the edges of the characteristic button craters. Reaching an altitude of 2,050 meters, striking views of the eruptive theater and the lava flow that destroyed Piano Provenzana.

The hike continues to the Pizzi Deneri Volcanological Observatory area at 3,000 meters, with a short trek of about 15 minutes to the scenic promontory. From here, with favorable weather conditions, it’s possible to admire a spectacular sunset over Etna, with views of the summit craters and the surrounding volcanic landscape.

At the end of the sunset, return to Piano Provenzana after an immersive experience among lava, craters and breathtaking views.
