Guided excursion to Mount Etna and the Alcantara Gorges, designed to let you experience a day of nature, volcanic landscapes and some of the most fascinating places in eastern Sicily.
The experience begins on the northern slope of Mount Etna, along the Mareneve scenic road, with a briefing at an altitude of 1,500 meters and equipment preparation before setting off on the trek. During the hike you will walk among ancient lava flows and pine and birch forests, visit the craters of the 2002 eruption, and walk through an impressive lava cave with helmet and flashlight.
After a lunch break at the refuge, which costs an additional €10 for the snack menu and €15 for the full menu, the tour continues to the Alcantara Gorges passing through quaint villages such as Castiglione di Sicilia. Here you can explore the lava canyon, walk in the river between the gorges, cool off in the crystal-clear waters and take a closer look at the distinctive basalt formations sculpted by water over millennia.
Pick-up transportation to your lodging or to an agreed-upon point in and around Taormina is included.
