The best Horse Riding Tour near Modena

Choose horseback riding in the Bolognese Hills to explore the Via degli Dei, the ancient trail between Bologna and Florence.

Departing from a riding stables in Sasso Marconi. 1- or 2-hour routes are available; minimal experience required for longer rides.

1-hour route

On this shorter outing, you will be taken near Palazzo de' Rossi, a scenic 16th-century complex, passing among centuries-old plane trees and cultivated fields, with the possibility of skirting the Reno River.

2-hour route (for experts only)

If you choose the two-hour horseback excursion, you will have the opportunity to admire the Palazzo de' Rossi and walk along the Via degli Dei until you reach the Laghetti del Maglio, pristine bodies of water rich in flora and fauna. The trail is for experts only.

For the more unsure, there is the option to stay at the camp for a riding lesson or modify the route. Our horses are calm and experienced, able to recognize the participants' experience and moderate their gait.

Horseback riding under Mount Cimone from Fiumalbo will have you spend a morning or afternoon immersed in the nature of the Modena Apennines.

At the stables, the instructor will give a short lesson for beginners and then you will go out for the walk. Available hikes are 1 hour, 1 1/2 hours or 2 hours.

During the hike, the instructor will take you to explore the Apennines by going through the countryside and forests of the area. Once you get to high altitude you can admire the impressive surrounding landscape.

In winter the hike can become even more unique, thanks to the snow that whitens the woods and meadows.

Clothing with long pants and closed shoes is required to participate.

An experience designed to introduce young children to the world of horseback riding in a safe, fun and engaging way.

The Saddle Baptism allows children ages 3 to 10 to have a first encounter with a horse or pony, during which children learn to get to know, pet and brush it, gaining confidence and respect for the animal. The instructor explains in a simple way how to behave safely and accompanies each child on the first ride, on docile and age-appropriate animals.

There follows a short assisted walk at the pace, with the horse led at the lunge by the instructor or an assistant, and then games such as small cone courses, small soft obstacles or gymkhanas are provided to make the experience more fun.

The horseback rides will take place on trails of low and medium-low difficulty suitable for all levels of experience, but also for those who have never been on horseback before.

You will be provided with all equipment for the excursion, including helmet (mandatory). Recommended clothing includes long pants and closed-toe shoes.
