The 6 best experiences to do on the Asiago Highland

Horseback riding on the Altopiano dei Sette Comuni plateau in Asiago will allow you to have a unique experience riding a horse.

The excursions are also suitable for beginners, in fact, before the walk the guide will explain how to mount and teach you the commands to best ride the horse.

You can choose from 1- or 2-hour hikes in which you will immerse yourself in the peaceful forests and grasslands of the Plateau. The rides are available from April through November.

Sportswear with long pants and closed shoes is required to participate in the walk.

The Kubelek Shelter è located on Mount Zovetto, in Cesuna, in the province of Vicenza. Immersed in the nature of the Sette Comuni Plateau, here you can enjoy a lunch surrounded by tranquility, in a family environment, admiring the beautiful surrounding landscapes.

The specialty of the Refuge è the grilled meat and you can enjoy it in both menù proposed.

Menù 1:

•    Three first courses: Pennette all’arrabbiata; Bigoli with venison ragù  Gnocchetti pasticciati.
•    Lemon sorbet with our own ice cream.
•    Mixed grill with sausages, ribs, chops, cockerel and toasted polenta and seasonal side dishes.
•    Homemade desserts

Menù 2:

•    Antipasto: Sopressa and Speck di Asiago; Prosciutto crudo di Parma; Lardo with honey grilled Asiago Dop cheese.
•    Three first courses: Pennette all’arrabbiata; Bigoli with venison ragù Gnocchetti pasticciati.
•    Lemon sorbet with our own ice cream.
•    Mixed grill with sausages, ribs, chops, cockerel and toasted polenta with seasonal side dishes.

Both menù include water and wine produced by the refuge's winery (Tenuta Guida).

For children up to 10 years old è you can choose from the menù a la carte in struttra and pay on site according to the consumption.

For children up to 10 years old è it is possible to reserve a place then choosing a la carte and paying directly at the facility.

È possible to reach the facility either on foot or by car, the streets are clean even in winter.

Carried by snowmobile you will cross snowy landscapes and reach the lodge where you will be served a typical dinner.

You will be able to arrive by car to the meeting point, and then you will travel an approximately 10-minute stretch by sleigh bus up to the lodge.

The menu for these occasions includes:

•    Speck asiago with polenta flan with walnuts and cheese
•    Dumplings with butter and sage or in broth
•    Cigars of tosella and grilled bacon
•    Water
•    1/4 wine per person
•    Coffee
•    Sweet

You will be enchanted by the large windows of the lodge from which there is a stunning view of the valley and immersed in the darkness of the night you can admire the stars.

Dinner is available only on weekends (Friday through Sunday) and reservations can be made for 2 people or more.

In case you prefer a less strenuous experience, it is available every day to go up to the hut by sleigh bus and enjoy an aperitif with the typical "sandwich onto" and medium beer.

Winter clothing is recommended for the snowmobile ride.

Snowshoeing on the Asiago Plateau is an unmissable opportunity to discover the affacinating views that surround the entire 7 Municipalities Plateau.

The hike is scheduled to start at 9:30 a.m., while the meeting place varies depending on the destination of the snowshoe hike and will be communicated to you by the guide a week before the experience. Some meeting points are to be reached by bus, which requires additional costs for the afternoon parcours.

The proposed destinations are Marcesina Plain, Mount Longara, Mount Valbella, Barental Forest, and Fort Campolongo. They are all hikes with easy routes and limited elevation gain and offer breathtaking views of the entire Asiago Plateau.

The duration of the outings varies between 3 hours and 3 1/2 hours, and dates will be by arrangement with the facility.

Equipment (snowshoes and poles) is to be rented on site for a price of 10€ and winter sportswear is recommended.

Snowshoeing on the Asiago Plateau in Tonezza del Cimone will let you discover the mountains in winter from a different point of view. Tours are private but you can participate in exclusive night events to snowshoe by moonlight or under the starry sky.

Group tours

The start of night snowshoeing is at 3:30 or 4:30 pm in Tonezza del Cimone. Your guide will lead you through the snow-covered forests and grasslands of the Tonezza and Fiorentini Plateau, while in the sky the moon and stars will accompany you for this evocative experience. Up to 15 people can participate and the duration of the night activity is 4 hours, and at the end you will be able to have dinner at a local restaurant or pizzeria.

Private Tour

The departure of the private tour is at 10 a.m. from Tonezza del Cimone ad together with the mountaineering guide you will enter the snowy forests and grasslands of the Tonezza Plateau. Groups can be a maximum of 10 people and the duration of the hike is about 6 hours, ideal for a day with family or friends in close contact with nature.

Clothing with heavy gloves, wool cap and warm socks is required for night snowshoeing, while a ski suit or winter hiking outfit and waterproof hiking boots are necessary for all types of activities. A small backpack and head flashlight are recommended, and snowshoeing equipment will be provided by the facility.
